What We Do in the Community

2602 National Avenue

In November 2024, Tierras Indígenas Community Land Trust purchased our headquarters property in historic Barrio Logan. With the help of our beloved community, we cleaned up the lot in May 2025 and the space has been continually activated since. We’ve hosted various community events, including art exhibits, concerts, yoga, breath work, sound healing, smoke & energy healing, open mics and writing sessions.

Current and future plans include:

  1. Interim indoor and outdoor space activation for community use, including art shows, vendor markets, health fairs, concerts, and more.

  2. Preservation of the current affordable housing and rehabilitation of existing units.

  3. Build out of a community-run art gallery space, combined with Tierras Indígenas office space.

  4. Development of a Community Birthing Center, in partnership with Monarch Midwives.

  5. Planning for future community garden, art co-operative, and additional housing in the back lot.

  6. Community space for TICLT Membership to meet and govern the stewardship of the land.

Tierras Indígenas Community Land Trust is excited to support the growth of the community led stewardship of this space. We hope to break ground on the construction projects early 2027. Stay tune for updates!

Logan Avenue Lot

TICLT is working with a private owner and the City of San Diego to acquire a 3,000 square foot lot situated at the corner of Logan Ave and 26th Street in Barrio Logan. The vision is to create a space for eco soil remediation, a green space for community gathering and an urban garden for all of us to enjoy. Stand by!

Growing Our Collective

As a partner on the Transformative Climate Communities Grant, 'Rooted in Comunidad, Cultivating Equity', TICLT will be providing various workshops to educate residents and connect them with resources to fight gentrification and displacement.

¡No Vendas! Workshops will connect homeowners being harassed by developers to sell their homes, with resources to stay in place. These resources can include free or low-cost rehabilitation, ADU construction, Trust & Will lawyers, solarization, greenscaping and more!

We will also host CLT information sessions - What is a CLT? How do they help stop gentrification and provide affordable housing options to community? What is communal stewardship? How do you get involved in making land use decisions where you live? Join us for a lively discussion! Check out calendar of events for upcoming dates.
